- Benefits of Rotary
Rotary was founded as a philanthropic organisation over 100 years ago, on 23rd February 1905, by four businessmen in Chicago, USA. It has since grown to a worldwide organization of approximately 1.2 million people, belonging to more than 32,000 clubs, in more than 200 countries and geographical areas. Rotary provides humanitarian service, encourages high ethical standards in all vocations, and helps foster goodwill and peace in the world.
Apart from the service provided by individual clubs addressed to the needs of their local communities, Rotary International has achieved notable success in three specific areas across the globe:
- The eradication of polio worldwide
- Supporting education in the third world
- Encouraging communities to interact and learn from each others’ competencies
